The Green Claims Checklist
For travel brands, ahead of the EU rules taking effect 27 September 2026.
From 27 September, vague environmental claims — “eco-friendly,” “carbon neutral” — become unlawful across the EU unless they can be substantiated, along with claims resting on non-compliant certification schemes. Penalties reach 4% of turnover in the member state, or €2 million. There is no transition period.
